I was saddened by his death. I had studied his face, his life, his genius. I had danced, and sang, and laughed. My Moonwalk- never perfected. Unfortunately, there was darkness to deal with at times as well. I connected to his stories, although in contrast, my experiences were minute in comparison. Still- artists connect. We create largely in solitude, our muse our one constant, and we rely on the gifts we received from God. We are appreciative of our supporters, they fuel our creativity. "Thriller" was painted just after the release of the album, acrylic on illustration board. "Controversy" an oil on canvas, came many years later. Maybe it was the idea of how short the time our lives can light up with the intensity of a fireworks display can be, changing our world briefly, like no other that drove me to paint it after such a long time. I don't know. It just needed to be and so I obliged. Even then, when I displayed it in a gallery, the public's remarks ran the gamut from praise to loathing. I make no judgements about the private parts of his life, lest I be judged. I respect the essence of his being. R.I.P. ![]()
